AKC Trick Dog Novice Class

We're excited to introduce one of our newest classes at The Responsible Dog—Trick Dog Novice! If you've ever wanted to teach your dog fun, impressive skills while strengthening your teamwork, this class is for you.

Trick training is more than just showing off. It builds confidence, improves communication, encourages problem-solving, and gives dogs a fun outlet for their energy. Plus, it's a great way to continue your training journey after Puppy Kindergarten or Beginner Obedience.

Over this 5-week course, teams will learn a variety of tricks and skills including touch, paws up, push-ups, getting in a box, platform work, balance beam, kennel up, jumping, tunnels, spins, and crawling. Each skill is taught in small, achievable steps, making the class enjoyable for both dogs and handlers.

This class is open to dogs who have successfully completed Puppy Kindergarten or Beginner Obedience. The skills learned in those classes provide the foundation needed to succeed in trick training.

Week five is reserved for AKC Novice Trick Dog evaluations. Dogs that successfully complete the required skills will earn their Novice Trick Dog ribbon, which is included with registration.

Whether you're looking for a fun new activity, a unique challenge, or an opportunity to earn your dog's first trick title, this class is a great place to start. Come join us as we launch this exciting new program and start your own traveling canine circus!
